I think MRG might be the first major VT/New England area to announce 100% open.  Dec. 25, 2017 - 45 of 45.

They were 100% on Dec. 17....as predicted :)]

This was intended to be a prediction thread, not an observation thread. Oh well, all good since there's snow!

Just get out you woolies for the rest of the week....brrr.
I thought I saw only 42 or 43 runs open the week of the 17th.

And inland cutting rainstorm is forecast for next
weekend, that's going to hurt the chances for other areas to see 100% open.

Ok we know many are at 100% so help me decide WHO PREDICTED 100% closest to their predicted DATE IN THEIR HOME STATE

I predicted 12/27 for MRG for VT. Missed by 10 days, but got the right area as the first in VT.

Mount Southington is 100% open today, so my prediction of Ski Sundown being first was wrong.

Ski Conditions Report: A detailed report describing the snow conditions on the mountain the day of your visit. Skiers should become familiar with the following snow surface descriptions: Ice: Packed Powder, Slush: Packed Powder, Frozen Granular: Packed Powder , Packed Powder - A thin covering of snow over bare earth.

tada!   Down here in the old north state, the long leaf pine state, we have three winners.  Cataloochee (18), Appalachian (12) and Sapphire (2) are all at 100%.  To be honest Sapphire hit it first, but I could not count that as significant.  Well, there you go.  I predicted App on Dec 22, and here it is Dec 30.

I was wrong about MA, as far as I know Bradford was the first to be 100% open as of today.

Ok since Pagamony is the only entrant not using a snurfer we will put him in his own class like Jake Burton Carpenter. Don't ask me what the hay I mean by this, just odd ( to me)we have heavy duty contributors from so far down( but I have seen those mountains so I know where your coming from)

    North Carolina- Pagamony

Any others claiming to have PREDICTED and CLOSEST to 100% IN THEIR HOME STATE?

Thanks Cisco, I do humbly accept this honor for all the little people.

to recap, I started posting here several years ago on a thread about rope tows, found the home made ski maps, and the magic hit.

    And happy new year y'all.

Bryce VA hit the 100% mark by opening Hangover today, 1/1/2018.  They win for Virginia!  Massanutten has everything open except for 1 of 2 terrain parks, so they're just shy of 100%.

I predicted Bryce would be 100% on December 29.  Not a difficult prediction, I agree, since the Old Dominion State has only 4 ski areas, but Bryce takes its time opening their only black diamond: Hangover.  Hangover is only about 100 or so yards long.

Whitetail PA hit 100% c. December 29.  Did any other Pennsylvania ski area beat them?  Quite a feat for WT, since they have an east-to-southeastern exposure and sit only a few miles north of the Mason-Dixon Line.

I didn't make a pick for PA, unfortunately.

Ciscokid, I'd like to add these predictions  :D

Yawgoo will be the first in Rhode Island to hit 100%.  Expected date: January 7.

Cloudmont in Alabama is open!  Right now they have 1 of 2 runs open.  I predict they will not push for 100% this year.  If they do reach 100%, they will be the first in Alabama.

Your brother is right if he means "best conditions this early in the season."  Unfortunately, the cold snap during Christmas vacation week put a fiscal frown on the faces of those in the industry
