For the second day of our trip, we skied the most northern ski area in the eastern US, Lonesome Pine Trails in Fort Kent. They had similar conditions to Mont Farlagne, about 2 feet of dry new snow. The mountain was 100% open, and there were still pockets of powder to be found. Groomed trails were well manicured, and were very fun to carve on. Ungroomed areas were soft and in great shape. The mountain and lodge were busy, but lift lines were never more than a couple of minutes long.
The mountain has a fun variety of terrain. There are some wide runs, and at least as many narrowing windy trails through the woods. There is one official glade, and many other unofficial paths and glades scattered across the mountain. It is relatively tall for a surface lift served ski area, and there's more than enough terrain to keep occupied for a full day of skiing. They have a beautiful spacious lodge with a fireplace and large windows that face the slopes.
We had two great days of skiing, but the forecast for tomorrow looks less than ideal. Even if we don't get the chance to ski tomorrow, the days at Farlagne and Lonesome Pine were quite memorable. We really lucked out with the conditions, especially while most of New England is still seeing less than ideal conditions.
