After the latest thaw I headed to Otis Ridge to see how the conditions were out in the Berkshires. As it turns out they were great! Only two trails were closed and the snow was very well groomed. Ungroomed areas were icy, but they softened up a little bit later in the day. All of the open trails except Bob’s Bowl had very good coverage. Bob’s Bowl was very thin with many bare spots showing. Temperatures stayed in the lower and mid twenties throughout the day, but the sun made it feel a bit warmer. Only the chair was open to the top and lift lines varied from a few minutes to none at all. Dutchman remains one of my all time favorite runs with its narrow banked turns. It was a great day in the Berkshires and it seems that Otis had better conditions than many northern areas based on reports from Crotched, Stratton, & Mount Snow from the same day.
