Ciscokid's trip got me to wondering if he was scouting locations for next August 21, 2017 total eclipse. Then I noticed this date.

You heard it here first. Make your reservations now. Ever ski during a total eclipse? You may get your chance in the ADK, New England or the Maritimes in 2024. Monday April 8th, 2024

The center of the path of totality is very close to Jay, Stowe, Whiteface and others. Saddleback, Sugarloaf, Squaw, Big Rock and many in the ADK are in the path of totality. The duration at Jay is 3 min 30 secs. A higher altitude gives a longer duration. (Probably negligible at these elevations). Wildcat has a partial at 99.3% obscurity, Mt Tremblant  97.5% along with many others.

I wonder if they will be required to shut the lifts down during totality? I hope we have good spring skiing that year.
