East Hill in Camillus, NY is a rope tow  and Hall t-bar hill in the back yard of a local elementary school.

Is it privately owned or is it owned by the school and/or city? My notes indicate that it is owned and/or operated by the "Camillus Ski Association."

I can vouch for the various locations at RPI!

I made tracks on various pitches around the campus during my 4 years there from '89 to '93 with some of the best turns I got there being in March of '93 when the "Storm of the Century" put down about 3 feet of powder!

As for lift served at RPI, depending on the prevalence of ski addicted typically mechanical engineering students on campus at any given time, one would often see a make shift rope tow or two around the campus

In the years I attended RPI (1964-1973), I remember seeing people earning turns on the hill just above 8th St.  I had been told, (but my info request from RPI went unanswered) that at times in the 1950's there were rope tows both at the 8th street location mentioned above and on the hillside below W2SZ (RPI's ham radio station).

It is Wight, not Wright. I make the same mistake. It's near you!! It's at the Dublin School in Dublin, NH off 101.

Which reminds me of another one. Cardigan Mountain School. Don't they have one or had ones? I think I read they had multiple sites and I believe I found pics on their site one that looked like recent on campus.

Also Kent Hills, ME is operating.

That may be true so perhaps it doesn't belong in the list as school/city owned and operated. It is in the school's backyard so one could say it's on or adjacent to school property.

OK.  When I get around to posting NH, Dublin School is listed.  They have had several sites including one that is currently operational with a pony lift.  I didn't know it as "Norm Wight".

I too thought that the Cardigan School had its own hill, but it's not on NELSAP.

Kent Hills was edited as per your comment.

This page on the Kents Hill School athletic facilities has a photo of their ski slope.(It slides by.) It says the rope tow is new. I checked the vertical of the hill, 200-210 feet. http://www.kentshill.org/page/athletics/facilities
Never skied there but I had a summer job there painting. Great views from their hilltop.

See SJ1.0 for my trip reports on not skiing there. One of the car commercials this year I'd swear was filmed there.

  • Cranwell School in Lenox MA had a short rope tow.  I remember using it as a practice slope a couple of times when I was on my high school ski team.
  • Happy Valley, NY - Alfred University
  • Word Of Life Bible Institute up in the Adirondacks had and may still have a rope tow for student use.
