I was at Hitching Post Farm a week ago, checking out their riding facility. I didn't see any ski hill, but then, I wasn't looking for one. I don't recall seeing any "hills" steep enough to ski, but...again, I wasn't looking for that. They had a lovely cross-country equestrian course, however.

Eaton Mountain, ME is definitely re-opening under new ownership. Here's their web site. I'm following their fortunes and rooting for them because it's the first place I ever skied.

I stopped by Eaton Mountain this weekend and they are definitely working to open this winter. They've cleaned out a lot of debris and have some electrical projects to work on, but they are trying. I had never been there before, but have to say I was truly surprised by some of the steeps this small mountain has to offer. I expected it to be more of a hill than a mountain. I really hope they can open this winter. They are planning a job fair in the coming weeks.

Blackwater is still open, although I believe it's for Proctor students and races only. Looking at their website you may be able to contact Proctor Academy Admissions to see when the place will be operating and make arrangements to ski there.

The Lisbon Ski Tow in Lisbon, NH is part of NELSAP forever I'm afraid.

Add this one to your list as it is operating, the Kancamagus Rec Area in Lincoln, NH. One bad a%$ fast rope tow!

13 Chapman Hill / Williston Ski Associates Williston VT PRIVATE PRIVATE ASSOC - OPEN IN 2004

Really, you are sure it was open in 2004? Because I doubt that. Barrett Peterson I think is the guy to talk to on North Williston Road. His wife was a state rep for awhile I believe. There is a separate thread on this site if you do a search for it under Chapman Hill. I am also sitting here with a lot of pix from the fall of 1960 when this area was first operated.

My take is that it is being mowed or brush hogged every year, but only for sledders. The tow needs a fair amount of work, especially if they are going to bring in inspectors.

No I am not sure. Looking for people who have been there since. I took that date from the NELSAP site. Searching the forums is a good idea.

I don't have a link handy, but do a search for Adopt A Ski Area. In 2007-08, a bunch of forum members 'adopted' a small ski area by visiting it and writing a trip report.

For my list here, no it would not. I know Ticomb was open last year, as I skiied it. This list is just to clarify some places I am not sure about.
It might be on the NELSAP Adopt-A-Ski-Area 2008 list, I haven't fully read that link yet. NELSAP Adopt-A-Ski-Area-2008
Maybe a NELSAP Adopt-A-Ski-Area 2009 list is needed. Although, I could knock off a few area on their 2008 list from trips I made in 2008 before I was a member.

Need more info on these:
1 Lakeridge Ski Area Torrington CT PRIVATE GATED COMMUNITY
2 Powder Ridge Middlefield CT CLOSED MAY REOPEN?
3 Easton Ski Area - Eaglebrook School Deerfield MA PRIVATE - FOR STUDENTS ONLY?
5 Waidlich Family Tow Millers Falls MA PRIVATE PRIVATE FAMILY AREA
6 Bauneg Beg 2 Ski Area North Berwick ME SEMI-PRIVATE PRIVATE FAMILY AREA - CLOSED?
9 Clancy Mountain - Cardigan Mountain School Canaan NH PRIVATE FOR SCHOOL USE ONLY
12 Bellows Falls/Rockingham Recreation Bellows Falls VT SPORADIC TOWN REC DEPT
13 Chapman Hill / Williston Ski Associates Williston VT PRIVATE PRIVATE ASSOC - OPEN IN 2004 - CLOSED NOW?
14 Hitching Post Farm Tow South Royalton VT PRIVATE OFFICIALLY CLOSED - BUT STILL FUNCTIONS?
16 Pine Mountain Goshen VT PRIVATE PRIVATE FAMILY AREA
17 Sonnenberg at Twin Farms Barnard VT PRIVATE EXCLUSIVE RESORT $1300 PER NIGHT

We didn't do one in 2009, but I do think a 2010 Adopt-A-Ski-Area program would be a good idea.
