  • Mont St-Sauveur in the Laurentians opened a few times in October over the last decade. Off the top of my head, 2015, 2013, 2011...
  • This is interesting, haven't seen this before - Mont Alta (now a lost lift area) in Quebec had a trail whose number was 0: Mont Alta Trail Map You should ask Frankontour (Francois on Zoneski), I believe he did the new map. Actually it's not really…
  • If the coverage is good and the winter isn't too bad, I would go (for interest and uniqueness). Sunday: Mont Sauvage (something like $20 CDN and open only on weekends).Monday: Mont Avalanche (or Vallée Bleue): both are small, old school trip back …
  • You might want to checkout some less commercial areas also as Olympia and Morin Heights (as well as Gabriel, Avila a few hops away). I'll give a couple of that have an old feel to them:Mont AvalancheMont Sauvage (reopened after being closed for 2 de…
  • Actually that other area is Les Pentes 40-80, no lifts but is public park. Hill 40-80 closed over 15 years ago. It was pretty small. The Laurentians have so many lost areas, off the top of mind, here are some that have closed in the last 30-40 yea…
  • I'm planning a trip there for January - going to likely stay near Saint-Sauveur and hit up 5-6 areas...too many to choose from! I would need 3 weeks to hit them all. Lost, open or both?

  • I figured it out - they are just a fraction of their previous size, other sides of the hill are now closed. Yep, runs on mountain no. 1 had trails 11-17; mountain no. 2 would be numbered in the 20s, mountain no. 3 in the 30s and the bigger mountai…
  • I was there on June 1 of 94.  :D I was there... June 1 1992 to 1997 and 2017. By far the worst coverage was June 1 1993...most of the flats didn't any snow and it made for a long walk. Being them, I wouldn't have open past today, the pitch was br…

  • My guess is they stay closed until Friday. Forecast is terrible There is an opening in the forecast for Thursday, I expect if there is enough snow, they will open on Thursday and might be the last time...we'll know by Wednesday afternoon.
  • Ah Mad Patrick, but without photos I think there must be a wee bit of blarney in that tale. ;) I believe that post initially had pictures attached to it, but as you can find anything on the net, here is what I found about skiing (on snow) in Irelan…

  • 20 years ago I would say "no doubt".  If it's an option this year my gut says "probably".  Another question is would they open June 1 if they know they can also do 2, 3 and 4?  And will they bring back the June 1 Fun Slalom?  I still have a June 1 t…
  • So the question I wonder (if it happens), will they just open on Thursday June 1 (knowing that they been closed midweek except Fridays for almost a month) and call it a season?

  • MadPatSki, that May holiday in Canada (do they still call it Queen Victoria Day?) used to - and probably still does - bring lots of Canadians to Tuckerman Ravine on Mt.Washington. It always was a weekend that was a lot of fun. They were a wild bunch…

  • I love them too. Killington still runs theirs? Rode it last November.
  • That has been one of the items on my bucket list for at least 20 years. Hard to get the timing right...plus most of the time, you have to leave in our prime ski season for a tropical destination which is against my religion.
