MDT September 01, 2016<o:p></o:p>CONNECT TWEET LINKEDIN GOOGLE+ PINTEREST<o:p></o:p>DONNELLY, Idaho – Chair lifts, a zip line and a half-finished lodge are just a few of the Tamarack Resort properties that Valley County says it will soon sell to the highest bidder.  It’s the latest chapter in what has been a tumultuous 10 years for this resort just west of Donnelly.<o:p></o:p>“Valley County will hold an auction on parcels of property that have not paid their taxes for the last three years or more,” said Gordon Cruickshank, chairman of the Valley County Commissioners. <o:p></o:p>On October 17, Valley County plans to auction off 24 properties in order collect the past tax money it’s owed. Those properties include improvements Tamarack Resort has made on state-leased land including the incomplete Mid-Mountain Lodge and the Tamarack Express and Summit ski lifts. <o:p></o:p>“Tamarack has had a long and complicated exit from the bankruptcy procedures that began in 2008,” said the resort’s general manager Brad Larsen.<o:p></o:p>From 2012 to 2014 the Tamarack Homeowner’s Association took over the resort’s operations.<o:p></o:p>For the past 18 months however those duties were handed over to a company called New TR Acquisitions or New Trac. The Valley County treasurer says New Trac owes hundreds of thousands of dollars in back property taxes.<o:p></o:p>“The zip line and two-and-a-half holes of the golf course are all part of the properties we have taken for tax deeds,” said Cruickshank. <o:p></o:p>The resort says the homeowners association is in the process of taking over operations once again.<o:p></o:p>“The owner’s association is working with the county right now to ensure that we’ve got all the right assets to get this resort open this winter,” said Larsen. <o:p></o:p>That means working with the county to prevent the Mid-Mountain Lodge and the Tamarack Express and Summit chair lifts from selling at auction.<o:p></o:p>“I don’t think the owner’s association is going to let that happen they’re going to work with the county to make sure that we’ve got all the assets to operate,” said Larsen.<o:p></o:p>The homeowners have until the auction date to pay the county what is owed on these assets. The resort said one way or another it will be open 7 days a week this winter.<o:p></o:p>“The owner’s association has vision and foresight for the future, you know we’re not looking back,” said Larsen.<o:p></o:p>The auction on October 17 will be at 1 pm and is open to the public.
