Name that area in 3 clues

Big Rock ME fits 2 clues, don’t know if they had a fire. Magic had a fire but there prices have gone up. This could be a new thread; Ski Base Lodges that had fires and ones that should. Now if Bill would update his most excellent list we’d know the answer. :D http://www.iabsi.com/public/ski/Area_sorted_by_12-13_price.htmlI guess NESH has the info, but I’m too lazy to look thru them all.

Here is another clue: The pre-1980 chairlift is used by this ski area regularly, but has not been opened yet this season.

That 3rd clue could mean anything.  As in it has very new lifts a la Bretton Woods (not a guess), or it’s pretty small.  Or am I reading it wrong?

I noticed that too.

- It could mean that it is an area with one chairlift and that chairlift is older than 1980 (Eaton)

- it could mean that it has many chairlifts and all but one are newer than 1980 (Crotched)

I think we already have two correct answers to the 3 clues: Crotched Mt. by yours truly and Eaton, contributed by mapnut.

IMO, it’s time to move on.

Sugarbush/ Mt Ellen could fit the bill as well.. I believe the Mt. Ellen base lodge had a chimney fire about 10 years ago, and the Sunny D lift  is definitely older than 1980.

At one time, this area had a total of 7 lifts

Pretty sure the mid-station was on the 6230′ “Mtn. Double” where Snowflake met the lift line. I think it was a loading-only mid-station. But obviously Glen Ellen was not the one you were looking for!

I don’t think there is any area with a mile-long-plus chair that operated under 3 names in New England, so can we assume it is not a New England area?

Joshua: I can’t find anything that shows a mid-station on the Green Mtn Double. It does make sense that they would have put one there to upload for early/late season skiing. While this area is still operating, it does have a tab on Nelsap.org
