I heard about this years ago from a long time acquaintance, who owns a lodging establishment there. Here is how the story went. A steep section of trees, between Racers Edge and Spillway, was frequently skied by the locals…when the coverage was sufficient. They called the trees in there the “Toilet Bowl”. When a slope was finally cut through those trees, it was given the name of the “Royal Flush” </blockquote>
It gets better… I have no idea if it’s true, but I’ve been told that the area you’re referring to is the leeching field for the Peak Lodge’s septic system. Hence the toilet references…</blockquote>
That would be hard to imagine. It’s about 1.5 miles away from the summit. BTW, The glade referred to as “the Throne” is also a toilet reference.
