That’s how they all work. Wouldn’t make sense to have foot people line up with skis-on people. You would have to depend on them to organize themselves to match the sequence of the chairs/gondolas, and the walk on people would be making a mess of the snow. That’s being said, I’m not sure why the multi-line thing make qualify for your list. There are only 2 legit ones in the east, when somebody unfamiliar with them sees one for the first time they have a look of confusion. I think that makes it unique.

(The detachable Poma grip could go through an inside turn with a simple guide rail arrangement.)

FWIW, this thread has nothing to do with how many of a particular kind of lift remain. It’s about types of lifts that were installed at less than 5 areas.

It was a detachable triple. That should quality it for this list.

The original Sunapee double was converted to a gondola in the summer, IIRC.

I'm not sure if it was mentioned, but the HS Triple Chair at Gore was unique.

From the SAM Survey, there were only 4 built: ’83- 3 Detach Doppelmayr at Mt. Bachelor, OR (Removed) ’84- 3 Detach Von Roll at Gore Mountain, NY (Removed) ’97- 3 Detach POMA at Aspen Mountain, CO (Operating) ’99- 3 Detach Garaventa CTEC at Alta, UT (Operating)

We could have a category for lifts that go over roads public roads. That would at least include include Whittier, Killington, and Stowe.

I guess that is a unique feature of a lift rather than a unique lift.

I recall hearing that Le Massif started with a bus driving people to the top. K did that to transfer people uphill for early season. Not sure how many other areas might have used a regular wheeled vehicle for uphill transport?

I always wondered about Whittier— did people park their cars, ride up and then just work the gondola out of the mid station?

The parking lot was at the Lodge/T-Bar area. The east-side of Rte. 16 was only for the summer scenery ride. For skiing, loading was at the midstation. It was slow. I do not recall if it was a detachable or if it was slow enough to load while moving.

It detached and from what I have seen the attendants would actually move the cabins around manually!
