Wow, this is big news. Les Otten has finally thrown in the towel.

I'll be shocked if anyone buys this property/project.

It's over. A sad ending, but one that was inevitable, unfortunately.

We haven’t heard about Les Otten and his Dixville Notch project for months. While discussing the NH primary on WGAN radio, Portland, it was noted that he provided for the place to vote, I presume the hotel, and that he voted. I presume he’s taken up residence at Balsams Wilderness and is still trying to bring it back to life.

He became a resident of Dixville Notch so they would have enough registered voters to hold a primary.

They said in Dixville that there was 1 Republican voter, and they wrote in Bloomberg, which I think would fit the profile of Otten, but I could be way off.

Yes, it was Otten who wrote in Bloomberg who wasn't on the ballot here.

That is all correct. My point is, doesn't he have to be NH resident to vote. I presume he's living at the hotel. Perhaps I presumed too much. I guess he could just live there and not be working to get the Balsams complex running.

Here's a paragraph of the Portland Press Herald's article on Dixville Notch voting:

Resident No. 5 is Les Otten, developer of the Balsams resort, where the voting tradition began. Otten said he plans to move to Dixville Notch from Greenwood, Maine, ahead of the primary. He already owns several properties in the New Hampshire community and is working on a $186 million redevelopment project in the area.

They have announced that the resort will host weddings starting this summer. It sounds like there are three smaller buildings which will be used and the golf course will be able to be used.
