Why do you care if you don’t ski there?? I avoided the place for several decades but I’m over that now. You should be too.

Ok, really I ski it because it is a hill, with snow, with lifts, I bought the damn pass and I’m there. I can also ski around all those bad bus driver trained skiers either because I know how to avoid a lot of that terrain or them. Still figuring out to avoid trees though.
So you skied Mt Snow & Stratton on the same day 3/2 to compare the conditions & crowds, even though you don’t like Mt Snow? And even though conditions & crowds change throughout the day? Even the Jersey Turnpike & Garden State Parkway interchange ..er I mean Cooper Junction (sorry Bill I think you deserved better) changes it’s color through out the day. It used to say that on the back of your ticket somewhere.
More lifts is a bad thing? That’s a new one to me. I only find a few trails congested at peak times(Peak, get it) but yes many of the lifts a lot of the time.
I assume 20 mins means Stratton? I’ll admit I have not been there in a couple decades but I’ve talked to people on the lifts this year who complain mightily about the crowds there. Try to book there and let us know if is cheaper. We looked and found everything much higher. Much further north? It’s only 9.5 miles north. It’s trails face more northerly, have 300 feet more elevation and vertical so that does help. I’m not gonna say it is a worse place.
If your talking about Okemo I’ve been there 3 out of the last 5 years and I find it pretty crowded.
NewEnglandSkier13, you’re telling me Magic has better snow making & grooming than Mt Snow?
To set the record straight, from the state line on I-91, Mt Snow is 49 mins, Stratton & Magic are 59 mins & Okemo 64 minutes. For Okemo, I’d add another 10-20 mins or more to take a lift to get to a lift that gets to anywhere good.
Dr Jeff is right I think about the prevalence of passes these days. It’s been talked about in other threads before. Look at what’s been happening at Jackson Hole.
In summary; Mount Snow is an extremely crowded mountain, with poor snow making & worse grooming, too many lifts, really icy slopes, Lousy lodging deals, absolutely horrible & too few restaurants, just one brewery in 5 miles and way to many Patriot fans. Please do not come here ever again.
