We skied Friday 11/22 and today 11/23 and will ski Sunday 11/24. Since I have been an Epic pass holder previous, I had no pass issues. My wife lost her prev. Epic pass so had to get a day ticket on Friday. They were very nice in the season pass office and gave her three 1 day passes for Fri, Sat & Sunday up front.
Friday was my 1st day out. It was wet, I was on new boots which hurt, and I crashed at the end of my very 1st run on Beaver Hill after catching an edge in the soft snow. It was a tone setter - I only stayed out for 3 runs and skipped the NF runs due to the wet mixed precip. The conditions were very good despite the weather - nice soft snow.
On Friday night, returning from the local grocery, I could see the on-board lights on the fan guns lit up across the front of the hill. It was only 31(f) but felt dry.
Which brings us to today. What a pleasant surprise. There was newly made snow on almost everything. Only Freefall on NF was missing new man made snow as far as I could tell. And even Freefall was a coarse loose gran with come cookies but completely edgeable. We lapped Nitro at Carinthia with fan guns running - 1st thing and at the end of our day - it had no features - so a rare skiers run and probably the best it has ever skied for me. Not exaggerating - so good. Snowdance was recently opened yesterday and there were making dry fan gun snow on it today - it skied great - but was not it's normal width. No matter - it is November and was great. Ridge - ditto to Snow dance - but was pretty much it's normal width. The only issue is the usual one.. Long John. Since Nitro was featureless and no Mineshaft, the only way to get to the features on Gulch was to BOMB down the middle section of Long John (from the top of Nitro to the top of Heavy Metal). They should rethink this or at least post some folks on the section of Long John. It was super dangerous. My new boots were much better on day 2.
