Shelter in place. Not shelter in ANOTHER place.
Edit: I don't fault second homeowners for wanting to escape to the country. I get it. I just commend anyone who's staying put in their communities for not being virus-spreading-grandparent-murderers.
There's a similar resentment here in NJ. People who have second homes at the Jersey Shore, and where I live in northernmost lakes/hills area, second homeowners are fleeing the cities.
The consensus is "don't come here if you're a second homeowner, we don't have the infrastructure or hospital beds or whatever"
Seems to me if the community isn't willing to let these people enjoy the full advantages of the community, the second-homeowners should get some kind of break on their taxes. After all, they're paying to educate the children, paying the police they need less frequently than the local opioid trade, etc. And since they aren't driving on the roads every day, they put less wear and tear on local roads, yet they still pay full taxes for the road department.
Without a tax break or perhaps some type of restricted deed, shouldn't they be free to occupy property that they own legally in the United States of America?
Isn't it also beneficial to society overall to lessen the density in the cities?
Stands to reason that the spring break kids returning from infected partying are going to result in far more dead grandparents than any second homeowners will cause.
