Mt Snow Trip Reports 2019-2020

This is all in jest sorta.,,
I like the pic and if they stayed in their car the whole trip and if it doesn’t make anyone go north I’m okay with it. BUT:
Wahhhhhhh! Et tu, Brute? Why don’t you stick the knife in and turn it slowly??
We hurriedly left our condo on the Ides of March exactly a month ago and today is the last day of my rental. I know no one cares about that but the agency had the nerve to suggest we tip housekeeping something extra. I understand they are hurting too but why don’t they tip them?
My reasons not to:
A. We didn’t use housekeeping and we left the place way, way cleaner than we found it.
B. We paid for a month plus utilities that we didn’t use the place- so ask the owner for a tip.
C. I’m laid off due to CV-19
D. I’m cheap
E. Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
F. Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!
I miss the valley big time but I’m staying home.

My son also said that entrance access to Mount Snow is blocked off at Carinthia, Sundance and close to the base lodge.

I suspect seasonal rentals may be easier and more available next year. Hope you come back. I rented seasonally here for a few years before purchasing. It worked well.

Killington is a huge place, I can fully understand the management not wanting folks skiing there while it's closed. In my personal experience, cell phone service can be spotty on parts of the mountain. If someone gets hurt, it might be difficult to reach help.

Personally, I wouldn't want to ski there completely alone, without ski patrol. If you get injured, you also risk infecting first responders.

agreed! I've hiked up each of the "peaks" -- in good weather, carrying a small pack at most. Wouldn't do it humping up skis etc.

Although I might ask someone to pick me up at the bottom of Snowshed ;)

Topic seems to have morphed from Mt. Snow to Killington. Cellphone service at Superstar is just. fine. It seems like that area would be fine for good social distance earned turns

Housekeeping just cleaned before and after you used the place, correct? Sounds like the housekeepers work for the agency and more so the owner. Not at all for you. If anybody should tip it should be the owner. And this is coming from somebody on the owner side of that type situation.

Yes, but right now alot more of the mountain is still skiable than Superstar. According to Kzone about 60% of the hiker's are from out of state, pissing off the locals, and risking infecting first responders. In normal times I could understand hiking for turns, but this is not the case.

It's a mute point anyway, because the access road is blocked off and I'm sure it would be considered trespassing in that part of Killington if caught by the police.

If someone at River Valley Market isn't wearing a mask, despite the governor's recommendation to do so, there's a 100% chance they're 22 - 50 white males and they get into a high-end vehicle with out-of-state plates. And a 100% chance they give you an offended look when you step away from them when they get too close.

Wow!

Couple of thoughts, courteously offered

1. Beware of absolutes. Based on demographics, you're off by about 5%
2. Regardless of the numbers, judge them not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character!

Correct. Although whoever cleaned it before we moved in must have been blind. And I think they probably only clean it after if they deem it is needed.

Most of original Killington is leased forest service land. Are the police actually there arresting people?

I'm hearing on Kzone about the police issuing people that are parked with tickets. I would think the access road is state or private property.

Interesting. I wonder if both the Snowshed and Ramshead Lots are blocked off. I would guess that someone willing to walk up Superstar would be game to do it from Snowshed!

I would bet that all lots are blocked and/or posted. Although all they need is one sign on the access roads in order to ticket.
