The pipe cutter was waiting to go into action at 10:30am today @ Carinthia while another cat pushed lots of snow around..
The designers and builders of the parks at Carinthia appear to be changing up again what a park feature can be....
And to borrow from the Mitch Hedberg Kit-Kat joke, it's a clever snow-saving technique. (vs building the walls full height).
With the amount of snow that just yards away from the North wall in the form of the HUGE lower 2 jumps on Inferno, and then the amount of snow that just yards away from the South wall in the form of the features in the Junkyard park, pretty sure that the design it appears they're putting in for the top of the walls of the pipe isn't because of the need to save snow quantity ;)
And BTW, as someone who certainly isn't a park user (short of maybe some of the banked S-turns they put up on Mineshaft, I will say that myself, and many of the also non park skiers who I usually ski with, have really appreciated the "new" layout on Inferno this season so far, where the only features on it, have been the 2 HUGE jumps at the bottom, and they've shifted those over maybe 20 feet closer to the North wall of whatever they're building in the traditional halfpipe area, so now as a skier, you have about a 2 cat width, groomed corduroy highway alongside of those jumps on Inferno, as well as all the fun rollers up higher on Inferno to ski over/around and make some laps there. I have really enjoyed this change in the layout this season!
