I made it back to Pats for the first time in a few years for some enjoyable early December skiing. They were running the Turbulence Triple, the Peak Triple, and both carpets. Two runs were open off of each chairlift, but it looks like more will be open soon. All of the open trails had good base depths and were plenty wide. It was moderately busy, but there were no lift lines. Pats Peak always seems to deliver a great experience, and today was no different.

They really do a good job really paying attention to details, and they're still independent!

When others have put big money into lifts (or other items) Pat's put money into snowmaking, snowmaking, and when they were done, more snowmaking. They have obviously done gradual (sensible) lift upgrades but their snowmaking is exceptional.

You mean they didn't build a brand new $21 million 80,000-square-foot lodge, add 3 brand new lifts in 4 years, one of which is a $7.3 million dollar heated bubble 6 pack, buy up to 8 inns/lodging facilities, install all kinds of new fan snow guns & I forget, did they repave a runway too? And all in the same time period ?

It wasn't running, but we were able to ski the slope that is normally the tubing park.

As a Killington apologist, you are aware they do close to a million skier visits per year in a very competitive VT market! PS: You forgot the tunnels. They weren't cheap either!

Hermitage / Haystack ... yep. Hijack...The connection gossip to Mt Snow is up again in the West Dover area the last time I was there. At 2.5 mi summit to summit & 1.7 mi top of Nitro to closest trail, I doubt it. Though, stranger things have happened. Mapnut must have a master plan for this already on SJ1.0

Aah! You meant the Hermitage! The similarities are striking.

Mount Snow - Hermitage connection, who 'da thought... It could make a nice string of 'pods' like Sunday River. The option to close pods for maintenance days and have everything open on weekends/holidays could be really efficient and easier on staff...

Now, as to the airport for Killington... maybe some extra lights on Route 4 would prove adequate?

Back to the topic at hand. Hit Pat's Peak yesterday (Wednesday 4th) no crowds... 0 lift lines. Green, blue & black trails from the top and a few more on the right side of the mountain. Mother nature's addition to the cover made for nice skiing. Snow making evident on a number of other trails & groomers out spreading cover for the weekend. $39.00 ticket was $29.00 for seniors, OK with me...
