The term, "Jerrys"

I ran into a photo showing Steve Harvey hosting Family Feud. I don't know if it's real or a photoshop, but Check out #4, Jerrys.

I looked it up on line and found the following on the urban dictionary site. It defines it as "One who demonstrates complete and utter ignorance in their sport, mostly in skiing."

Funny we used to call them Joeys growing up.

Means the same as gaper, which is a term I always tried to avoid using because it is so derogatory towards the very life blood of our sport - new participants. Coincidentally, I just visited newschoolers.com for the first time in a few years and jerry is used there a lot.

My memories of "Joey" are identical - someone named Joey or Tony from Long Island showing up on the bus with a Starter jacket on and jeans.

Derogatory term for Germans. More used by the British. My mom and uncle were from the American zone, so they didn't have memories of the term.

For some reason seeing this title got me thinking about that.
