Farr's Hill revival?

Looks like they might be trying to revive this as a community Hill in Randolph, vt. I didn't see this elsewhere in the forums so please feel free to correct me if the discussion was already posted. Looks like all they have is a Facebook page, but it looks looks they blew about snow and groomed it. Does that count?

I looked at that website. At least with t he browser I used, I didn't see anything about reviving skiing. What am I missing?

They hope to get a lift put in to replace the old tow. Spoke with a RASTA rep last fall about it. Lots of great community support for the project. Great to see!

If that is true, I believe it will be the beginner T-bar from Oak Mountain, NY, which is being sold to "an area in Vermont". Stay tuned.

Correct. That's the source. This is so cool, for both areas, not to mention Hall t-bar enthusiasts.

Yep. From Oak email today:
One of many capital projects for the upcoming ski season is a NEW Sunkid Carpet Lift that will replace the TBar on the Bunny Hill. Many have asked if we will be selling the Tbars, and unfortunately we have sold the entire TBar w/ it's lift to a new home in VT. Stay tuned as we release the other upcoming projects soon!

They mean people who asked them if they could buy it. Unfortunate for the backyard lift builders who wanted it.

Well I rode that t-bar in Feb 2020, thought it was awesome. Too bad they're replacing with a carpet, but good for the folks in Randolph

Too hard for beginners and beginner snowboarders to ride. Many people dragged up unceremoniously and that is not a great way to make people excited to ski/snowboard.

It got me hooked (no pun intended) when I was a very young. I think it also makes you become a better skier faster with having your skis on the ground going up as well as down.

Same here. I grew up lapping the T-bar at Bradford during the after school program. It was faster than the chair and had shorter lines. They don't even allow snowboarders on that T-bar, which was also a plus.

True, but from a ski area operator's perspective, a bad experience on a lift can sour a new snow sports enthusiast on the sport. Big picture is to make the beginner experience as fun and easy as possible.

You can put me in the camp of those having a bad experience with a t-bar early on. I was young, but had been skiing for a few years when we went to Saddleback for the first time. This was pre-2003. Everything was closed due to wind except for Sandy and Cupsuptic and I kept on falling down getting on the t-bar. The problem was I was getting bad advice. Everyone kept on telling me "don't sit down" when they really should have been saying "stand straight up" or "don't lean back." But it still wasn't a great experience. It would be tough learning to ride up before you're even able to ski down.

Me too: J-bar on the beginner hill) at Silvermine (RIP) in NY. I am amazed I stuck with the sport after that.
