Quietman;c-49702 wroteClimbed the mountain for sunset this evening and all of the rains have brought out the skeeters. I only had a cutter wipe in my fanny pack and good thing I have that! If I slowed or stopped, they were in my ears, face, and even swallowed a few. This was totally unexpected as there have ben almost none all year. Were fewer at the top, but the trip back down was bad again. The good news, ponds are full and the water table is high. Bad news, the skeeters are biting!
They make this mosquito netting that you can wear like a hat. that at least keeps them (as well as the gnats and deer flies) away from your head. (I particularly hate their buzzing in my ears.) Walmart has them for less than $2. Even though I don't always need it or use it, I don't venture out the the mountain between May and the first frost without it.
