New BMOM Map

The new trail map for Black Mountain has been released and it looks great! It gives a much better sense of the mountain's scale and shows many of the glades that the last one didn't. However, there are still plenty of unmarked stashes for those in the know.

This map has been a long time in the making and represents about 10 years of hard work by the mountain and by many volunteers. Sam's right, there's still much more than meets the eye, regarding stashes and learning how to connect the best lines. There are also two 800 vertical foot glades off the backside directly off the Uphill trail that lead to Rumford Whitecap, with Granite Backcountry Alliance enhanced runouts off the Whitecap summit snowfields. The backcountry zone continues to grow, with more in the works in coming years. Be sure to check out BMOM when there's decent amount of natural snow, as it skis much bigger than you'd expect.

The map looks great! I really need to get there this winter. Tickets are always $25 on Fridays? Do you need to buy in advance? I will have to try to work it out to stop on the way to Rangeley although I usually head up on Thursdays to get a long weekend in.

Fridays are always $25 from 9:00 to 8:00 ($15 for night only). We haven't announced final operating plans yet, but I don't expect that pre-purchasing will be required.

Usually yes. We are open on most holidays and during school vacation weeks. In a normal season, we'd be open most Thursday nights for free skiing sponsored by a local business, but I don't know if that will happen this year.

Correct me if I am wrong NES13, but I think they will rent the entire mountain for a fee on non-holiday M-T-W-Ts.

Actually BMOM is open 7 days a week...for uphill skiing, $15/day via ePurchase, unless otherwise specified. No plans for a reservation system at this time but there will be limited lodge capacities, following Maine CDC guidelines, which are subject to change. The mountain has a much greater capacity than that of the lodge, so lift lines and crowding outside isn't typically an issue.

Yeah, it hasn't been updated in quite a while. They were cut in 2016.
