Then again, we have a tough time convincing literally millions that brushing their teeth twice a day and flossing atleast once a day, is something they should do!! :/
Thankfully, one's own poor dental hygiene doesn't potentially kill their grandma.
Fortunately there's only typically less than a couple of dozen deaths per year in the United States annually attributed to the side effects caused purely by dental induced factors.
So technically if say grandma gets an abscess around say one of her upper eye teeth, that can turn into what is known as a canine space infection, which can spread to the brain, and does end up as the cause of death for a handful of people every year. So grandma should pay attention to the brushing and flossing recommendations as long as all of her teeth can't be taken out each night and put in a cup on her nightstand ;)
