Surface Lift Sunday #11 - When is a t-bar not a t-bar?

When it operates as a chairlift!! In Switzerland back in the summer of 1985 I was hiking in the resort of Pizol and, shortly after exiting the gondola to begin the upward hike, I heard what sounded like a lift turning. One of the t-bars was running but it had been, for the summer, converted into a single chairlift! That was a surreal site to see but I suspect not all that uncommon as not everyone has hiking stamina and to turn a normally not running lift for added income during the summer makes sense.

Here’s my dilemma: I cannot find a pic of it online and my photos from my 1985 summer abroad are hiding somewhere in my parents home where I cannot find them. Who of you has seen skilifts running as a summer chairlift and could you post a pic of it?

IBrake , can’t help you with the summer lifts but I am very familiar with hiking stamina. My alternative lift is a an atv by eccentric famous snow journalist !

Ps was within a few miles of a TBar at Hanson Hills Mi yesterday on way home from a white ball excursion in Telecar/ Poma/ Miner Denver area but unable to stop off.

The t-bar derving the old A, B, and C slopes at Pico years ago pulled riders over gradual terrain for the first half of the ride. Then it got so steep in the last half it was virtually a chairlift, albeit a very narrow one.

There was at least one T-Bar in the east that substituted a single chair for the summer.  I thought it was the Pico one.

It was Pico. Constam T. T’s swapped out in summer for chairs. I thought I had a pic somewhere of a woman riding the chair but cannot find it.
