Oops. I meant 2021-22 season. It’s not in this season but will be next.
There’s been a lot of complaints about why it’s not in now. They put the infrastructure in. All it needs is a little coding in the app.
This isn’t Covid related. No one believes that. It’s $.

OK Now I'm pissed! I clicked on the link for the Wildcat webcam and it redirects me to the waiting room to make reservations! Twice! Vail SUCKS

Word on the street is that none of the Vail webcams are working.

Okemo's work. Just lower loft running. 3' of snow and still dumping
Hang on to your hats tomorrow,,,

You do get through to the area website after a few random clicks...
On a good Vail (or anywhere) day like today the entire staff could and should be out skiing. 18"+ inches of snow rates cutting work.

Tough to get the staff safely to work, when it's been snowing 4-6" an hour for a good chunk of the morning like it was at Okemo.
And it's not like with Covid restrictions they could cram a bunch of employees into a few hotel rooms to be at the resort ahead of time either

Here is an example of great communication from Jay Peak. I love the honest, tell it like it is attitude. Vail could learn a lot from Steve Wright. This is what I'm looking for in communication from a ski resort

I also liked this from Sunday River's report from today.
We know you're dreaming of a white Christmas, not a wet one, but Mother Nature has other plans in store. Looking ahead to the end of the week, we are anticipating rainy weather to roll in on Thursday night into Friday, followed by a significant drop in temperatures. Conditions during this time will not be our best, but our groomers and snowmakers are on standby to recover as quickly as possible. If the forecast sticks, we hope to have a much better experience starting next Monday, so we appreciate your patience.

Back in the day before the Interstates, my dad used to travel up Route 7 and wait quite some time in long lift lines to ski the single chair at Stowe, when they gave you those frozen solid wool blankets for the ride up. One day, he purchased his ticket at the window, walked a bit and then turned around the corner of the lodge where a sign was hanging that said: "Conditions: Icy. No Refunds."

Interesting... Vail asks Summit county to ease up on capacity limitations for the holiday week as cases have plateaued there. Summit county says "no"... but I go on and check reservations for Breck and they have gone from booked up most days after xmas to wide open.

It amazes me how Vail can’t even offer any green terrain the week before X-Mas at Wildcat. Upper Polecat closed for snowmaking. Tomcat & Mid/Lower Polecat open but they refuse to run the Tomcat Triple. Yet they ran it + the quad when the only route down was Lynx?!?
Have they even attempted to make snow on the Snowcat area?
At least they announced Tuesday that there was no green terrain. But they failed to re-announce it today. Would suck if you are a low intermediate and had reserved today.
Edit: typo

Sunapee was a ZOO today. Over crowded like it was before high speed lifts. Wall to wall skiers and boarders on trails with snowmaking 15 minute lift lines or longer when the Sunbowl chair stopped for long periods of time and I mean long . Feared for my skeleton so I exited after 3 runs.

Just the truth and nothing but the truth.:) Honestly I thought Vail buying out Peaks was going to be a good thing but I haven't been impressed so far. I know COVID has played some part in this but their customer service has a lot to be desired and I don't like the way they're running things. Personally I think Peaks would have done a better job and wish they still owned Mount Snow.

I haven't skied anywhere but Crotched Mountain, season to date. But except for the glitch last Saturday (Dec. 18), I've got to give CM credit for providing a COVID-safe environment.
1. Social distance: Corrals have been redesigned so that lanes have about 8' of lateral spacing, while the inherent lenght of skis provide 6' front and back.
2. Unless part of the same pod, chairs on the quads are maxed at 2 and the double at one.
3. Guests and staff have been 90% compliant with mask requirements and of the 10% who haven't, no one (at least that I've seen) has refused to comply when asked by a patrolman or other mountain personnel.
4. In the Patrol Aid Room, all surfaces encountered by our patients are sanitized and disinfected. Tobbogans are wiped down with disinfectant before being returned to the mountain.
I know little beyond that regarding other indoor spaces, since I ski home to eat or use a restroom.
Crowds all week have been much greater than I'm used to seeing on pre-Xmas weekdays. I don't know if that's because of pent up demand to get outdoors, the unusually great early season snow - or perhaps, people are intentionally choosing a smaller area sensing that it might be safer.
I don't think we can objectively judge Vail until COVID-19 becomes a bad memory as opposed to an ongoing threat.

Joshua, that all sounds good & understandable. EXCEPT, a lot of us can't boot up, eat lunch or go to the bathrooms at our homes (not this year at least for me :'( :'( ) Or can we go to any Vail Resort without a reservation, unlike employees & their spouses, or go without, in theory, quarantining. Not that ANY of that is Vail's fault.
Vail's Claims company rejected our pass refunds. Not surprised.
We tried the medical route with a doctor's note saying we should not risk contracting covid by being in crowds due to our age, health condition & risk levels.
The claims company gave no reason and just sent another copy of the reasons for refunds. I surmise the reason they would give us is you have to be diagnosed after you buy your pass.
I wish they had in the beginnning just simply offered a credit for this season if you never used it. I'd be ok with that, but they didn't.

Ski_it: I am not minimizing in any way what you said - but the crowds last week (including weekdays) were unprecedented in my 14-years at CM. That would lead me to believe that a substantial fraction of CM skiers are turning out for CM's product, although without the bar, they are losing out on a lot of revenue.
ski_it
CM efforts are commendable. Part of the line problem was certainly people picking up passes.
I can understand considering the times & the snow why people showed up in droves. What I do not understand about the crowds at CM & MS is, if they are reducing capacity and requiring reservations, how can there be unprecedented crowds?
