Visiting ski areas/resorts in the summer

Yes, I have. The first time was their last day in October of 2020. Unfortunately, just the one lower lift was open due to construction.

Went to Sunapee for some lift served mtn. biking Saturday. First time for that at Sunapee. Not much going on, no upgrades for winter that I could see. The tents are all set up for the NH Craftmans fair the 2nd week of August. Check it out it’s quite interesting if your looking for some thing educational to do this summer.

Used to ride there in the summer, but there's no way I'm going to pay over $40 for the amount of terrain they have there. Glad to hear the fair is still going on.

I did the afternoon session for $32 and yes that’s still steep for what they have to offer. So they sent me an email questionnaire about my experience and I let them know that the prices are way out of line for what they have to offer. Yes, Vail sucks in the summer too.

Staying in a lakeside Aqua cabin at Bohemia in a couple weeks using up our almost $400 deposit that owner Lonnie said was ok after 4 years!

A centerpole double ride up Cliffs Ridge/ Marquette mtn may be in order also as well as another visit to the National Ski hall Ishpeming

Just got back from a wedding in Albuquerque, New Mexico. While we were there we rode the Sandia Peak tram to the top, (10,300 feet). Although it does not travel over the ski area itself, it gives you access to the top of the ski area on the other side (east side) of the mountain. Unfortunately, as we arrived at the peak a thunderstorm rolled through and canceled any hiking plans.

I went yesterday, 8/4/21, and had a blast. I was satisfied with what was open on Ramshead and Snowshed. The next visit will be a day when the K1 runs.

Be ready for some gnar from the peak. Also some easy stuff top to bottom. What did you think of Side show Bob? Made us break out in laughter it was some much fun.

On another note the new trail at Loon called Overhaul is very fun also. Hope they make more like it.

Are the trails good for XC bikes or do you have to be decked out and on a full-on DH bike to manage?

If you’re a good biker and you have 140 travel or better you should be able to do the gnarly parts. The rest is made for xcountry and trail bikes.

I did it 2x as well as Blue Magic which I think my have been a reroute. There was signage up. I have a DH bike with 200mm front and rear. The bike could handle the gnar of the black diamond trails but not sure about the operator :smile:

Well if this helps. I did them 4 years ago when I was 64 and had never been on a full suspension bike let alone a full on downhill bike. I rented one from Killington and after doing the snowshed and Ramshead greens and blues we headed to the peak. We came down the top of scarecrow then took a right over to the Light to Cable then Yo Vinny and Snakebite on to Easy Street. There were a few spots where I was questioning what I was doing there, but the bike never let me down and I was very surprised at how well it sucked up all that gnar. It was like being on a magic carpet. I just bought a Fezzari Delano Peak with 150 front and 135 rear and I love it but I don’t think I’d take it down cable trail. Hope this helps.

Did some downhill mtn. biking Friday evening at Loon and Saturday afternoon at Sunapee. Great stuff.The halfpipe trail at Sunapee is a hoot. Also at Sunapee the huge Craftmans fair is under way all this week. It’s huge with every craft you can imagine being showcased and or performed. Put this on your must do list. It’s an annual fair every year the 2nd week of August.

Another new mtn. bike trail opens this Friday called Hopper. I’m planning on being there for the evening $20 deal Friday.

It’s just getting better and better at the Loon mtbike park. The new trail called Hopper is a great intermediate flow trail with plenty of easy low key air to be had if you want some or you can just go to the side of the jump if you want to keep the rubber on the gravel.
The Kanc8 is really progressing quickly and that thing is a monster.

BTW, the golfer hit this tee shot on a par three hole to within ten feet of the cup and sank the putt for a birdie!
