How many employee & volunteers will not return with Vail Resorts vaccine mandates for all employees?

Good question. If they leave for that reason, I say, "Good riddance." While most of the work I do is outside, I really don't want to be unnecessarily exposed even though I've had 3-shots to date. I have two fully vaccinated friends who have had bad breakthrough cases.

And this here I think is the problem with America at this point. I'm fully vaccinated as is my wife and 2/3 of our adult children. My oldest decided not to get the vax after consultation with his doctor because he had covid and had natural immunity. Luckily, he works for a company not subject to vax mandates. I would never say good riddance to anyone who chooses, in consult with their doctor, not to get vaxed even though I want the vax myself.

Agreed. The couple of co-workers here who are unvaxxed have legit medical reasons (consult with real doctor, not the Interweb).

Nels, what area in Michigan?

A little hesitant to answer the question. I heard "Boyne", but the party I heard it from didn't know there were two Boynes (Mountain and Highlands) or another Boyne property.
SAM Magazine just had article concerning changes at Boyne with no mention, so we'll have to wait to see what shakes out. He also posts on LinkedIn.

Can we keep the vaxing/vail commentary out of this thread please.

Ok I guess, but the customers at Crotched Mtn & her sister resorts might may want to know beforehand that they'll need a need a facsimile of their V card to get a slice of pizza in the cafeteria. That's unless they know a 11 year old who can get it for them.
This does not apply to other indoor locations, retail, rentals, & sit down dining.
Of course, all policies are subject to change. And I could always stand to lose some pounds.
tedede
Yeah, but that's not what you asked, it's not specific to Crotched, and it's just another negative post on Vail corp.
Crotched set up a grab-n-go outdoor window last winter. I expect they'll do the same this year.

I don't see anything specifically negative about his posts. He's just bringing up legitimate questions about policies which will be in place at Crotched.

Sam, ski_it asked:
"How many employee & volunteers will not return with Vail Resorts vaccine mandates for all employees?"
Which is not a policy question unique to Crotched, Vail, or any other employer of 100 people or more in the US.

OK, we can all get over our summer crankiness and get back to being happy and nice now, snow is coming: Sort of how other people feel when Spring is coming. :)
Yesterday about 3 pm the West Double Chairlift at Crotched started moving and chairs were passing my window for the first time since last season, good vibes! The crew was adding chairs and had them all on before this morning. The bull wheel project took a few weeks, Vail brought in a specialist to put the new bearing in place & the local crew completed the job. Watching them wrap the cable around the bull wheel was fascinating, the cable is heavy and they were using the utmost care when in its vicinity.
The West lift needs it's loading platform restored before it can open... the crew for that project is currently working on the triple's loading platform (both are being replaced this year). The new platform on the triple looks a little larger and will hopefully be easier to load from. There is enough lumber to do an improved West loading platform as well.
Another magnificent trail mowing project is about complete, the mountain went from ragged to looking good in about 2 weeks. Joanie, thank your dad and his AeBe for another class act.
Vail brought in a professional team of 10 weedwhackers to do about 20 acres of whacking... this is the team that Wildcat has used for years. Hopefully we will see them back in years to come, skiing the trail edges should be fun this year.
They put the batter boards in the snowmaking pond's dam 1 1/2 weeks ago. The pond was overflowing in two days. The water table is as high as we have ever seen it, when they turn the guns on they should be able to run flat out for several days. Hopefully many trails will open quickly.
Crotched was pretty empty all summer, but more people have been showing up each week as staffing builds for the season start. There are more jobs available & they are paying a lot more especially for skilled/experienced people. Live the dream, become a ski instructor!
The people they have for the kitchen so far are capable of much better than grab and go.
The importance of Food & Beverage to the company's bottom line would suggest they will do what they can for everybody, but safely. Dream of Chicken Wings & draft beer!

I took a walk on the hill today (11/2/21). The leaves are past peak but still pretty.
The trails are mowed and weed-whacked.
The double had its chairs put back on the haul rope and was running a bit today, so the bearing work at the top must be done.
Things appear to be getting done despite all the question of "where are the employees coming from?"

Note after the fact: nelsbeer and I were writing and posting our comments nearly simultaneously. I guess the only point I got that he didn't cover was the status of the fall foliage.

NELSBEER for presid….!! Oh wait that’s political I can’t say that. ;)
Think snow! :D
NELSBEER
Did Joshua tell you to say that? We are currently having political infighting at the mountain condos & that statement could cause a battle royale!
My platform, let's blow the mice out of snowmaking tonight if the temps drop low enough & open the carpet in the morning (no masks) :o & Magic Mountain parking rules (same as ours anyway).
Judging from the local wildlife we my have to make do with Turkey Wings, the stupid birds are all over the roads playing chicken with the cars.

Killington says they got 3". Sunday River got a dusting.

It would be nice if the webcams were operable at Crotched.

For the history buffs: Here is a photo of a broken tree where Solstice Glade Glade crosses Solstice Glade Trail. Notice the pre-Peak Resorts light fixture right on the tree right at the break on that tree.
