NewEnglandSkier13 How is Seven Springs? I'm supposed to go on a trip in January. I don't ski anymore but I'm going to bring my son along. I know there's not much vertical but I hear the amenities' are great. Now it's owned by Vail, so the amenities will probably be fine for this year, but expect them to soon start disappearing in the name of "improving the skier experience."
TomWhite I grew up skiing SS (and HV) in the 60s n 70s. I’ve been not to SS since the first double chair went on the North Face. That area is now at least as big as the original face. They make good use of the vertical they have, and they have been on the forefront of snowmaking. HKD are the initials of SS’s owner for many years. They have lots of amenities to enjoy in addition to skiing.
JimK Seven Springs is generally very good skiing for our part of the country. As you say, not much vertical, but the trails spread out in three directions from the summit so there is decent variety. There is a large hotel/restaurant complex at the base with bowling alley, swimming pool, etc. This last photo is not mine, keep clicking on it and it will get really large:
TomWhite The last photo is of the original face. It seemed so big when I was 12! The lift line angling up toward the summit lake is the HSS that takes people to the North Face. You can’t see much of the NF. It is to the right, the view is from the side. The resort’s other HSS is part of the lift system over there. The long row of condos on the left are on top of the original face ridge. At the top left of center is the runway/airport. Hidden Valley, which SS bought a couple years ago, is to the left. It’s less than 2 mi. away (as the crow flies). No road connects them.
LaurelHillCrazie 250+ acres of efficient snowmaking will keep things covered. It is probably one of the best terrain parks in the east with an Olympic size half-pipe and jumps to host big slope-style competitions with its own fixed triple. Dedicated bump runs lookers far left on the front plus some pocket glades between the runs and some short glade on the back NF. Nothing super steep. Nice cruising. 450 vertical on the front. 750 vertical on the NF. 4 lifts back there, HS 6, 2 fixed-grip quads, 1 triple, which only runs when crowded on weekends. Fine dining at Hellen's. Typical ski resort food offerings the lodge plus more sit-down options in the Foggy Goggle and Foggy Brews plus more in the hotel complex. Boutique shops, full-service ski shop, bowling alley, game room, indoor swimming pool, spa, hot tubs, tubing hill. A real contained yinzer city. Do not wear Patriots gear if you want friendly service. :D

LaurelHillCrazie Yinzer loved Jim Kelly, an Allegheny River Town boy (Brady's Bend), and beating the Bills this season's opener is the highlight of the Steelers' season so you are safe flaunting Bill's attire.
