A little bit of marketing spin there for sure.
First off most modern fan guns are generally considered to be low e just simply because they supply their own compressed air via the on board compressor
Saying that a low e fan gun is 80% more efficient than a “standard snow gun” - if by standard snow gun they’re referring to an old school air//water ground gun, a type of gun that most resorts of any size have if not completely eliminated from their fleet, have greatly scaled back their use, well then I’d hope any new, low e gun would be well over 50% greater than the old school models
As for resorts/companies making their own snowguns, Killington used to make a number of their own guns, and still use some of them today. Seven Springs in PA is where HKD guns are developed and made, and if you look through the mountain ops areas of many mountains both large and small, its not uncommon at all to see some funky shaped snowguns that the mountain ops crew threw together on their own
Some likely cool stuff though in that press release mixed with the standard doze of ski resort marketing department spin for sure! ;)
