I decided to go for a two hour morning session at Oak Mountain in the Adirondacks for $31.80. First time skiing at Oak Mountain and the 7th New York ski area I have frequented (including Catamount). Likely due to the cold night, it was a pretty quiet crowd in the morning and maybe a dozen or so cars so I pretty much drove right up to the slope.
The entire mountain was soft corduroy and it was impossible to find any ice. There were some natural trails that were groomed and open and other natural trails that seemed like they could be open and weren't. Overall it is a pretty flat mountain, but there are a few narrow windy trails that are interesting.
I explored the t-bar line and didn't even have to duck a rope. I probably should have done it a second time because it was powder turns and one of the steeper trails on the mountain!
All in all a nice outing. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back as a solo skier, but it is a really nice family mountain.
On the way back to my guesthouse in North Creek, I stopped by Indian Lake ski area. Unfortunately looks like a New York NELSAP right now. Those are all snowmobile tracks.
