Model Ski resort

Has anyone tried to model a ski resort, looking for a new hobby. I have been to multiple mountains where they have a miniature model of the resort in the base lodge. Wonder if anyone has ever tried making their own. I use to draw my own trail maps but think taking it to the next level and creating a 3D masterpiece would be a fun project.

my dad added a chairlift and ski slope to a model RR layout he had as a hobby in his later years. model RR shops might be a good resource for materials, methods, etc.

I remember seeing architectural models of ski resorts in the base lodges of Whiteface Mountain as well as Sunday River approximately 25 years ago. I don’t know what happened to them. The Sunday River model looked like the forested areas were made from green silicone caulking.
Also, near Quechee Gorge is the Vermont Antiques Mall, which has a fictional ski resort model as part of it’s model railroad (in the toy museum).
There are a bunch of YouTube videos of people (mostly Germans) who have built working scale models of detachable chairlifts.

In 2012 I traveled to Austria to meet (and of course ski with) Klaus Jägerndorfer, the founder of Jägerndorfer Collection and convinced him to allow me import and distribute his model ski lifts in North America (I also went to Doppelmayr headquarters in Wolfurt, Austria which was totally cool). The business was a lot of fun, I met a lot of great people (including Klaus and his father and his team in Europe) and the business was a success. But it took up too much of my time to allow me to ski as much as I wanted. So I sold the business.
