I think there's a pretty big difference between a lift which we mostly ran during February for racing vs lifts which didn't run all year while huge lines formed at the other lifts on the mountain.

Snowmaking will be installed on Hop and Shooting Star this off season Friend was there reviewing the work pre-bid.

I truly expect that these lifts, and even for this coming season just the few trails they added snowmaking to, will be as much of a game changer for the mountain as when the Bluebird went in and so many more people started lapping the main face top to bottom vs off of just Canyon to avoid the longer, often colder, lift rides.

Probably can go back over my posting history on SJ and see that I've been hoping for this new Sundance lift in particular for well over a decade as that part of the mountain does have some fun terrain to lap, but often folks would avoid because of the big lines in the main base area. This lift I definitely think will help in both of those aspects!

Most definitely! And had that picture been panned slightly to the left, you'd plainly see that there's no where near enough room between the uphill side of the top terminal and the dirt/ledge they excavated to place the terminal there to even contemplate unloading a lift, regardless of how many seats it has, straight off

They do. Doppelmayr is there commissioning this week.

Sundance got its VT license plate today! Should be hauling people up the hill late next week after the next 2 liquid events roll through and they can get some more snow made down infront of the Sundance Lodge ahead of its scheduled opening for the season next weekend.

Sunbrook is apparently on target to be commissioned and get its VT license plate and open for business just before Christmas

Very exciting news! I really think these new lifts will be a game changer.

Yeah I think these two will effect the hill the most since Nitro and Canyon were put in. Bluebird helped alleviate main base lines but you could already get up quickly on the GSE.

Sundance is particular IMO is game changing essentially putting that base area and pod back on the map.

I also agree but not in a positive way. The new Sundance lift will put more skiers/riders onto an already overcrowded Long John at the same time as the Bluebird & GSE. The Sunbrook lift will be a positive gamechanger as it's been needed for years and glad to see it finally come.

Heard the same argument when the Bluebird was going in. Was overcrowded before, still was overcrowded after. Long John is like Storrow Drive on a Sox game night any way you look at it.

That said, that is only one trail of 5 (with snowmaking) that are going to be in people's faces when they unload from the new 6 pack. If those people weren't riding Sundance they would be going to top on something else, and likely on the same trail. If it ends up being worse I'd say then that will just have to be a casualty of being able to ski that pod with more ease or having another avoidance option of the Main base. Something has to give.
