Mount Abram 1/7/2023

A couple inches of new snow made for some excellent conditions at Abram today. They had been able to make some snow since the warm-up, and this, combined with the new natural snow, made for very nice packed powder conditions all day long. Even with the limited terrain open, nothing really got scraped off. From the Way Back Machine, Sweeper was open at the very top, and Boris, Dudley, & Taylor's Treat were the main options. Mahoosuc Meadow was also open on the West Side off of the Skyline Chair, but if you took Taylor's Treat over there, you had to traverse across McClain Lane to get back to the main mountain.

The mountain was pretty busy most of the day, but there was never a wait of more than a chair or two to get on either lift. It looks like Egomaineah and Easy Rider will open soon with snowmaking. The weekend $35 lift tickets are a hard deal to beat!

nice report, thanks! enjoyed an hour on my nordie skis nearby, as you mentioned the top 2ish inch coating of fresh snow was really nice

Does anybody know the story behind the cleared terrain to skier's right of the Skyline Double? Google Earth imagery shows what looks to be a partially cleared trail there in 2018, which is now growing in.

Seriously, they have a bunch of bike park trails going through that, if you look at the July 2022 image on google earth it shows it fairly clearly. Not sure if the chicken or the egg came first, but that's what they use it for.

It was cut a bit over 5 years ago, and was going to be a terrain park. Other trails such as Tucker's Tumble, Arr2Dee2, and Wassomatta U were cut at the same time. While most of the other trails have been kept mostly clear, the one near the Skyline Chair grew back in until they cut multiple bike trails through it.
