Lost Valley 2/4/2023

Lost Valley was one of the few ski areas in the state that was open today, so I decided to spend the morning there. The temperature was around -10 at opening, but it warmed to around 0 by the time I stopped skiing at 1:00. Winds were minimal, thanks to Lost Valley's location. There weren't many skiers out, and there were usually less than 10 on the mountain at any given time. They were having trouble with the auxiliary motor on Chair 2, so only Chair 1 was open. All of the snowmaking trails, and a couple glades were open. Conditions were firm and fast, but very edgeable. Despite the cold temperatures, it was a great morning of skiing!

Yeah, it was a ghost town. Probably 20 skiers out total during the 4 hours I was there.

Nice photos. Marten looks like one of the shortest marked glades I've ever seen!

Curious how Lost Valley compares to King Pine as both areas look superficially similar in photos.

Interesting point, I'd say it's similar in length to Bunny Glade at BMOM, but I can't really think of any shorter signed glades. McIntyre has some glades which are shorter and are marked in their trail map, but the don't have any signage.

It's very similar to King Pine in terms of terrain. Lots of beginner and intermediate terrain, quick and efficient lifts, some surprisingly steep trails, and many trails are through tall white pines.
