While not common, there are numerous throught the country. There's one at Nashoba and one at Butternut.

Yes, especially in the West. Comparatively, not many were built in the East or Midwest.

There are 7 lifts at Killington which were at least partially built by Yan that are still operating.

No, they're more endemic like Halls and Borvigs in the East.

Yes, definitely a little more Yans spread around out west, especially California/Nevada near their HQ. Still, you have to make the observation that they tended to sell to bigger customers. It's not so common to find them at smaller ski areas outside the previously mentioned states. The ones you do see at smaller ski areas are relocations. Very few if any in the Midwest and Atlantic states.

The 5 original lifts at Blackcomb were Yans. I was on the Installation Crew. We also did 3 at Whistler that year.

When I was there we were able to avoid the high speed quads by taking a series of 3 or 4 yan triples to the top. Magic or Fitzsimmons to Cruiser, Stoker, Catskinner chairs.

A few come to mind - Carlevaro-Savio, Mueller, and SLI. I'll throw Roebling in too, more due to historical significance.

The former two are mostly gone now due to age. Carlevaro-Savio lifts were, for the most part, installed in the eastern US from the late 50s until 1969. Larry Jump, owner of A-Basin, also owned the Telecar and Pomalift companies, which resold C&S and Poma equipment (respectively) in the US until the early to mid 60s, when the companies chose to directly market their equipment in the states. During that time you often saw C&S equipment such as drives and towers on Poma chairlifts, such as the original A lift at Hunter. For a foreign company they installed a respectable number of lifts in the US, however most were either heavily modified or removed entirely from the 1980s to the 2000s. A handful of lifts operate using some quantity of C&S parts, such as Mount Snow's Ego Alley or Nashoba's Snowdance lift, however only two unmodified C&S lifts remain, both at Pico.

Mueller lifts, originating in Switzerland, were fairly popular in the east during the 1960s. They mostly installed T-bars and gondolas in Europe, however their chairlifts proved popular in the states. Their Ts and gondolas though did get some sales here, with Mt. Whittier and Whistler both installing Mueller gondolas. Their eastern business though started to dissipate into the 1970s and they eventually exited the American market in the mid-80s (They had completed the drive terminal of Black, NH's East Bowl lift when they closed, and Borvig was contracted to complete the rest). Again, these are largely gone due to age.

SLI lifts were never exceptionally common here, and they were more common on the west coast. Nevertheless, resorts such as Catamount purchased a few. They folded in 1973, selling their assets to Riblet, who modified numerous SLIs with their parts and built a few hybrid lifts with parts from the two companies. Unfortunately, these rare lifts are seeing removals across the country in recent times, as they are a headache parts and maintenance-wise.

Roebling's never really did catch on anywhere - they installed one of the East's first chairlifts at Mount Sunapee and installed New York's first chairlift around the same time, but they never expanded out west and couldn't keep up with competition. They closed in 1965 and sold their assets to Hopkins, which installed a couple of lifts before eventually moving to amusement park rides.

Just a FYI, the Heavy Metal Double at Mount Snow is now the Heavy Metal TRIPLE, still all Yan as they used carriers from the Yan Tumbleweed and Sundance Triples that came down prior to this season when the Dopp Sundance Express 6 pack went in.
