Today we skied at Baie-des-Sables in Marston, Quebec. They seem to have avoided the rain on Thursday night, and there were excellent packed powder conditions on all trails. The entire mountain was open, except for Scotch Cap and Morne Glades. The glades that were open had good cover and were skiing well. The ski area was pretty busy, and there was usually a wait of a few T-bars. However, the waits were sometimes up to a few minutes long, largely due to snowboarders misloading on the T-bar.
Baie-des-Sables is the closest ski area in Canada to where we live, and is only about 30 minutes from the Maine border. It is located on the shore of Lac Mégantic, not far from the town of the same name. The ski area is served by a fast Samson T-bar, and features one wide slope, as well as a variety of twisty narrow trails through the forest. Lift tickets are very affordable at $16.70 CAD for adults. The area also features other activities, such as cross country skiing and tubing. It's a very fun place to ski, especially for the size, and is worth a visit if you get the opportunity.
