joshua_segal;c-59800 wroteWhile there are many who like to ski a different area every week/weekend, I suspect most of us have a "home area". The Indy Pass does not allow for a "home area" with a day or two at each of many areas. For that reason, I reject the concept that it is better than other multi-area passes.
It is only better if you intend to hit enough different mountains to justify the cost. I've had the Indy for three years now, and I either just break even or lose money. I am probably going to go back to a Jay pass (with Ragged reciprocal, assuming that doesn't change).
I'd probably get more use out of it if I hadn't already skied most of the areas and wanted to try them out. But, right now I have my favorites and have a hard time justifying going to places like Black NH, Bolton, and Saddleback over Cannon, Jay, MRG, etc. Love those areas, but they are further away and I prefer to hit them only when the snow is good. But then the snow is also good at my "home" mountains, and I want to be there for the good conditions as well.
For someone that truly does not have a "home" mountain and wants to hit a variety of places every season, it is a fabulous deal. But I have a hard time breaking even (I opt for the no blackout option, to keep things flexible during the holidays).
I'd be surprised if Jay stays on the Indy, but we'll see (has any area dropped from the Indy after being on it?). They said no change this season due to the change in ownership. But I haven't seen any comments regarding next season since the ownership change.
Would love to see one or two more quality mountains added. Burke, Dartmouth, Ragged (if Jay were to stay, why not Ragged?), or Abrams would all be excellent adds.
