It was a free ski night at Spruce this evening! Thanks to a local company (Re-Energy), skiing was free for everyone tonight. The Bunny and Barn Tows were open, but Orchard was closed due to snow loss on the tow path (They didn't get the chance to make any snow on the upper mountain this year, due to warm temperatures). The trails that were open still had pretty good cover, although Bowl and Face had a few avoidable bare and icy patches. The snow was spring snow, although it did firm up a bit as the sun went down. The mountain was busy, with lots of people out enjoying the free skiing, but of course there are no lift lines with rope tows! We spent a fun couple of hours riding the ropes until our arms got tired. We got dinner before leaving, and you can't beat the food prices at Spruce. They still have their famous $1 grilled cheeses, and our dinner of 2 grilled cheeses, 2 hot dogs, and a cheeseburger was $13 in total. Spruce is always a fun place to spend a few hours, and we're lucky to have it nearby!
