Gunstock Free for 70+

For fellow golden agers, I discovered this last year. Gunstock is free any day for those 70+. One can go directly to the lifts by having their card upgraded for $49. I went mid-week so I didn't mind the short indoor ticket line. They haven't updated their site, but I assume it will continue:

Is there a master list of ski areas where those 70+ (or even 65+) ski free?

To the 70+ list I can add Massanutten VA, Bryce VA (weekdays only, I think), and Canaan Valley WV. Those were the situations in 2022-23. Not sure if they’ve posted their 2023-24 rates and deals yet.

Back in 2021, I scored a free ticket 🎟️ at Wolf Ridge for being over 65. The area has new owners, so I’m not sure the option will continue to be available. Its new name is Hatley Pointe Boutique Mountain Resort, so 70+ geezers looking for a free ski ticket are probably not their primary clientele.

I've never seen a master list.
The two NH owned areas (Cannon n Sunapee) I think are free for NH residents midweek non-holiday.

I think the NH residents is only Cannon weekdays non-holiday and you have to do it on line.

It's operated by Vail. The state actually owns the ski area. It's within Mount Sunapee State Park.

I don't want to highjack this thread from its original purpose (free lift tickets). So NES#13 may be technically right that NH owns the land, and leases it to Vail. However, Wikipedia calls Vail the owner, and on their own website Vail calls itself "owner and operator" of 41 resorts, including Mt. Sunapee. So I suspect that NH may own the land, but Vail owns all of the facilities, improvements, etc. And woe to anyone who challenges Vail on what they own! Just ask Park City and Powdr Corp!

Anyway getting back to the free lift tickets, I have just rechecked the Sunapee website. No indication of free lift tickets anywhere. It doesn't surprise me -- Vail doesn't do anything for free!!

That is correct. The state owns the land and Vail owns what's on top of it.

We gotta get together for a freebie old guys day at Massanutten and/or Bryce in early Jan if the snow is decent! I will probably head west in mid-Jan for the winter. I might try to do a couple freebie days at Monarch during my drive west. Never skied it before. Bad news is I'm going to be a septuagenarian in about a week. Good news is I get to start checking out free senior skiing ;-)

FWIW, Vail's Northeast pass is $46 for 80 and up. Just bought my mom one.
