Here's the latest from Gore - sounds like a fairly serious issues. Once they get High Peaks accessible so too will the summit, and the rest of the trails off the gondola via Topridge.
The gondola cabins have been in pretty rough shape in recent years. After about 25 years of operation, they are beat up, the ski/snowboard binders on the outside are too small for modern equipment and scratch up skies (all metal binders), and the plexiglass is all scratched up. Historical stickers that tell the story of Gore and the region are quite out of date (some say that some of the original skiers from the 1930s still enjoy regularly skiing the mountain). There's even non functional heat vents from when the lift was new and supposed to be heated.
But the good news is that Gore put out a bid for new cabins for next year. I'm sure whatever incident happened over this weekend will ensure that this process is expedited.
