Good question
HDPE is ok with aliphatic hydrocarbons "Little or no damage after 30 days of constant exposure to the reagent" and ski bases are UHMW which is just a more rugged version of HDPE (different ethylene molecule for better wear, reduced friction)
the other component of WD 40 is heavy paraffin which is just fancy mineral oil, sort of like wax anyway I think. Ballistol might be another option
With that in mind, mineral oil might be a good cheap way to get the job done; HDPE has no problem with that.
If in doubt you could spray it on a plastic milk jug and see what happens I guess. I wouldn't have any concerns about it, next time I'm facing the sticky grabby stuff I'm going to try the WD40, but I'll hedge my bets and clean the bases with a solvent within a few weeks and then do a regular wax for the off season. Grabby snow really tears at my knees.
