Watching FIS World Cup

Where can I watch full World Cup race replays? Ski and snowboard.com wants $80.00? There doesn’t seem to be a way to pay that as if I wanted to. What about FIS . com? Paramount? What’s the dealio?

Last years, or this upcoming season? Not sure about later, but last year broadcasts were split with Peacock covering US (with some coverage on NBC and Outside) and Austria, Ski and Snowboard covered elsewhere in Europe.

This year. The last time I paid for Peacock they cut the cover short by a lot! And no replays? They think I’m up at 4am to watch live?

They had replays. I never got up at 4. I almost always watched the replay (exception was run 2 which often was 7:30 or so).

Did they have more replays last year, @slatham? The last time I used peacock they stopped after just a few races. Might have had to do with licensing with FIS.

Now it seems ultra expensive to watch? Like $80 to $90 bucks? I think FIS should do better.

Increased social media presence + an annual doccu-series on Netflix + obtaining full control over media rights and setting up a streaming service is what enabled F1 viewership to skyrocket worldwide over the past 5 years. And in the US ESPN won the TV rights over NBC in part because they agreed to partner with Mother’s to have ad-free coverage so that the races and qualifying aren’t interrupted, further boosting TV viewership as well.

FIS needs to take a page out of Formula One Management’s play book since they were purchased by Liberty Media.

Sure ski racing is a much smaller market but there’s no reason they can’t do the same as well. And there’s no reason they keep letting NBC/Outside/Whatever’s the latest name get media rights and blow up/hide coverage. And there’s no reason for NBC/et al to point fingers at the Austrian broadcaster for not being able to show Austrian races.

And the the most laughable part of US coverage is that when NBC/Peacock/etc decide to skip racers to throw in additional ads despite that the FIS WC sets it up with ad breaks. When NBC does air US races it always seems they skip a racer just to see the next one miss like the second gate so there’s not much to show when the coverage comes back after the break.

You could also say the same crap about NBC’s Olympics coverage with their “packaging” and fluff stories, and their recent golf coverage. Like how they showed Lexi Thompsons’s final putt of her career at last week’s Solheim Cup without commentary and split screened with a ad (they call it “playing through”). Crap, crap, and more crap. But I digress.

I just won't watch racing. FIS is geared toward the European market so let them have the fun. I'll just check the results.

I miss CBC's coverage; anything since they bowed out has been miserable.

So I just went in (via IPad) selected Sports from menu across top, then scrolled down to “Latest events, highlights and news”, then scrolled right and selected Snow Sports. Bunch of replays available.

But what am I going to do about this year? I’ve never understood the scarcity of this kind of content. Especially in view of streaming.

Maybe check YouTube? All the races seem to be available, but I'm not sure how soon they are posted. The commentary on the couple I checked out were not in English though.

I’ve done that. Not a great fan. What I’m really looking for more up to date races in the coming season. Not something a year or two old.

Yes last year on Peacock. I also confirmed replays on ski and snowboard live. What I can’t seem to find is information on the upcoming season. IIRC the US ski team puts out a press release with details sometime between now and Solden in late October.

Well, full replays from last season are free on http://skiandsnowboard.live at least.

That’ll do me until I’m aching to see something up to date.
