Maybe a look towards a longer-term future? Probably unlikely, but it looks purposely left there to kinda white-out over either for marked backcountry trails or future expansion into the wedge of terrain that faces northeast-ish above the Eclipse.
The hornet is supposed to be replaced in the next couple years. I doubt they'd re-align it as it would probably be way more expensive and destroy the layout of the mountain, but maybe they decide to go rogue and throw in a rope tow or t-bar to the true summit to unlock better access over to that terrain.
Its probably just a weird Tenney trail map quirk.
