ADKskier Great day, Triple opened Friday. Conditions were great! packed powder. The natural snow trails need more snow though, as there were areas where leaf's and dirt were starting to show. Nothing crazy though. The 4-8 inches forecasted this week should help. They started making snow on Helmers (Lift Line) towards the end of the day. Saw something cool while riding the lift, one of the snowmaking crew trimmed up a small tree and mounted a gun on top of it.
NELSAP Thanks for the report! That's a fun area. Did they speed up the triple at all from when it was at Gore?

NewEnglandSkier13 McCauley seems like such a great ski area, definitely near the top of my list of places to ski in NY! Thanks for the report. Were they still running the T-bar even with the triple operating?

At the Ski Bowl I clocked it near 350'/min, at most, and it took nearly 10 min to ascend to the top.
ADKskier That's a snails pace! it definitely seemed faster than 350' feet a min. I think the double ran about 450' a min, and it seemed pretty close to the same speed or slightly slower.
ciscokid Great report and pics Rich! I remember snowmobiling in Old Forge in the early seventies and eating at the Howard Johnson’s. And Kashawa’s hardware store was neat. And watching racing in Boonville.

And watching racing in Boonville. The Howard Johnsons is now the Font and back door. The front is still a diner the back is a bar. The Hardware Store now the "Old Forge Hardware Store". It is still a neat place. Its the Old Forge "Mall". My father lives up here so I'm a bit spoiled. You could plop Old Forge at the base of any ski resort on the east coast and I think it would rank right up there in top ski towns and après activities.
ciscokid Wow that’s great they still have the orange roof! Last time I was there was 2002 While we’re in the Adirondacks This is a fantastic pic
