After some xc skiing in the morning at Base de plein air André‑Nadeau, we went over to Mont-Bellevue for an afternoon of alpine skiing. We ate lunch at the very reasonably priced cafeteria before picking up a 4 hour ticket for $22.50 CAD ($15.48 USD). You certainly won't see prices like that at a comparable US ski area!
All of the trails, except two short runs that rely on natural snow (3A & 3B) were open and one glade was open (1C). Most of the trails had a perfectly groomed packed powder surface, except for 4A which was left natural and had some powder on it. Crowds were light during the afternoon and the chairlift was usually ski-on. They seem to take great pride in their grooming, and there wasn't a single patch of ice to be found anywhere on the mountain, even in higher traffic areas.
The terrain is mostly novice and intermediate cruising terrain, but it is still varied and fun. The layout of the mountain is slightly unique because the base chalet isn't right at the bottom of the lift, due to space constraints. Instead, it is located at the base of Piste 1 and there is a slight traverse over to the lift. Another unique feature is Piste 1A, which has shaped berms and rollers that are quite fun at speed.
Although we've been to Sherbrooke many times, we haven't had the chance to ski at Mont-Bellevue until today, and we are glad we did. It was a great affordable and uncrowded place to spend an afternoon of skiing.
