Aging out of skiing?

There is a nice meme and/or T-shirt that reads: "You don't stop skiing when you grow old; you grow old when you stop skiing".

An empirical observation: I had two close friends who were fanatic skiers who passed away. In both cases, they died 3-ski seasons after they stopped skiing. The superstition I take from this: When you stop skiing, you have three years left!

Hi guys, I still look up Snowjournal a few times a year, but I quit skiing in 2016. It's Snowjournal's fault! My last day was a SJ gathering at Berkshire East. I couldn't keep up! Jeremy and others were more than courteous about waiting for me at the bottom, but "trying to keep up" is a great recipe for getting hurt. My other main reason to quit was the long solo drives. In recent years I've had two hip joint replacements, but otherwise I am active and doing well at 74.

Tell us, what sort of activities have you found to replace, in a sense, the time/energy you used to spend on skiing?
