joshua_segal I agree! My point to Bondman was there is no comparison between Peak Resorts & ASC. ASC was a poorly run corporation with Les Otten leveraging too much in real estate and not in ski area management. Peaks on the other hand ran pretty well with not many complaints. The reason they sold was because some of the owners wanted to get out of the ski business.
My comparison of Mount Snow is, in the Peak days the mountain ran well with Kelly Pawlak as GM. The mountain was less crowded on the weekends with the exception of holidays and event weekends. Peaks also invested millions into the infrastructure with the addition of the Bluebird Express 6 pack lift, the West Lake snowmaking project, and the new Carinthia base lodge and base improvements. Vail on the other hand, most every weekend the mountain is crowded and dangerous, base lodge has numerous issues, lift ticket prices are assinine, loss or reduction of many of the long time events, lack of customer service etc. Sure they installed two new lifts but they also stopped maintaining a lift that would benefit the skiers on windy or icy days.
In conclusion, Peaks cared about their guest and did a good job given value to them. Vail though only cares about how much return they can provide to their shareholders! Sure the Epic pass may look great on paper but it has a negative effect on most of the resorts that are on it.
