Groomers Used for Summer Mowing

They approximated where the old lights were aimed mostly down/across hill, but Joshua and I both noted a few pointed straight down the lift line into rider's eyes. They would have been OK with the old lights, but these new one's will leave you sunblind after a quick glance.

There is still time to adjust; hopefully it will be addressed before Crotched opens. We have mentioned it to appropriate people. It'll be worth the effort if electricity is saved and there are no more blind spots on the hill.

Not having to go climb poles to change out ballasts and bulbs on MH/Sodium/Fluorescent is worth its weight in gold too. I am all set doing that for a lifetime!

The one issue I see with the LED lights is when snow is being made and the snow blows on the light there is very little heat to melt the snow and the brightness of the light is reduced

Don't you need a winch groomer to get to mow some of the steep slopes or is that not an issue when there is no snow?

Pretty sure Plattekill uses a winch cat for Blockbuster.

Voss Resort in Norway uses their groomers for summer grading of ski slopes!

I know PB sells heavily to farmers for use in silage storage.

On the other hand I really can't imagine how running a cat is cost effective vs Vail owning a couple of Aebi slope mowers to share amongst the region.

PB has been selling the Trail Bulley, with those rubber trackes, for snowmobile trail grooming for quite a while now. they are great for trips down roads.
