riverc0il Nothing new here. You may have just heard them recently for the first time. It is possible these terms are being used by news media more and more over time because they sound exciting. Maybe things that only meteorologists may have said previously are now being used more often to generate clicks and views, perhaps?
skirick riverc0il I’d say you hit the nail on the head. It’s all about viewership (TV) or clicks (online) these days. The tabloids did it with success in the grocery store checkout line back in the 60’s and 70’s.
lotsoskiing I don’t mind it- kind of interesting to learn what’s happening. What I dislike is naming winter storms… Hurricanes, OK, but winter storms, not so much
