The workers at Le Massif are striking.

We wish to inform you that the union has voted in favor of a 10-day strike mandate for the upcoming season.

On the morning of January 2, 2026, the union began a strike action, the duration of which remains unknown.

As a result, all mountain activities are suspended for the duration of the strike, including all ski lifts, trails, sledding activities, food and beverage services, as well as the shop and the workshop.

We are making our first trip there for MLK. We’re hoping that they stick to their 10 days. The alternative, Mont Sainte Ann has issues as well so fingers are crossed,

Our trip to Le Massif over MLK was affected by the strike. Our lodging was through Le Massif and they rolled it over to next year’s MLK. We found a condo at the last minute at Mont Ste Anne and we are skiing there. Saturday was quite crowded.

Word amongst the locals at MSA is that Le Massif is contemplating closing for the season. That’s probably posturing, but it would be very sad if it came to pass.

We wish to inform you that on January 2, 2026, the union voted in favor of an unlimited general strike mandate, resulting in the temporary suspension of all mountain operations.
In order to minimize the impacts of this strike on our guests and the community, Le Massif de Charlevoix implemented a partial and limited resumption of operations between January 6 and January 19, 2026.
On January 19, following the decision of the unionized employees, represented by the CSN, not to accept either of the two recent scenarios that would have allowed a return to work, Le Massif de Charlevoix is forced to cease its regular operations.

MSA was also a zoo on Sunday, but Monday was ski on. I rode a lift with an instructor from Le Massif who said that a lot of the employee issues stem from the relationship with Club Med. They said that Le Massif employees are “subcontracted” to the Club Med. They also sited that the Club Med guests are not prepared to be out on a ski slope and that has led to a lot of injuries. This plus we’re underpaid and underappreciated.

It was an interesting chairlift ride.

Sad to see a ski area closing during the season but especially because of labor issues. This strike along with recent others exposes the reality that area management (mainly corporate) don’t understand & respect their staff’s worth. The people that work at ski areas offer a very valuable service and without them the area can’t survive. Some complain that the government’s policies on foreign workers are also to blame but if areas paid their staff a livable wage with reasonable benefits more locals would work and the need for foreign workers wouldn’t be an issue. Though it won’t, these corporate monopolies needs to go away before it ruins skiing all together!
